The Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) will be the Knowledge and Process Partners for these awards and demonstrate the rigor, expertise and quality standards required to execute these prestigious awards.

Get recognized and awarded for your path-breaking approach towards addressing learning needs, solving learning challenges and demonstrated success in conceptualizing and delivering category specific learning initiatives.

Judging Process

Innovation in the Initiative

Innovation in the design, delivery mechanisms, implementation and tracking of the course/ program. It also includes original communication campaigns and design of metrics around it.

Impact on Stakeholders

Recognition of the course in external and internal forums and tracking of metrics showcasing its success are also encompassed in this parameter.

Sustainability and Scalability

Financial, people, institute/organization culture or infrastructure related investments and changes, as well as communication and branding of the course/ program contribute in making it sustainable and scalable.
Post Initial screening, all application forms will be reviewed on various evaluation parameters. The jury will then arrive at a list of shortlisted finalists which will proceed to the Final Jury Evaluation.
The final jury will comprise of seasoned, experienced, reputed and independent mix of industry leaders brought together by SHRM and ensure that their opinion is fair, just and representative of the industry trends.

The T.E.D. Awards' Panel of Judges will review each section of the submission and debate internally in this process. In the event if there are clarifications needed, the judges will reach out to the finalists. Scores will be given in accordance to the weightage assigned to each section.

Application Guidelines

WHO CAN ENTER?

All Private Education Institutions (PEIs) and Corporate Training organizations with campuses based in Singapore. For any nomination(s) for the chosen award category or categories made by the Private Education Institutions or Corporate Training organizations, it must currently offer relevant course(s) in its Singapore campus to be considered eligible for entry.

Henri Tan

Centre Director, Academy of Competency Enhancement Pte Ltd (ACE)

Mr Henri Tan is currently an independent HR Consultant, workshop trainer, training facilitator as well as a certified WSQ (Workforce Skills Qualification) courseware developer.

To date, Mr Henri Tan has more than 18 years of experience in people management and people development since he started his career with the National Productivity Board in 1994, now known as SPRING Singapore. Mr Henri Tan was previously the Regional Human Resources Manager for a global geotechnical firm managing the HR for the Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam operations. During his tenure, Mr Henri Tan performed the role of Compliance Manager handling and educating employees in matters relating Corporate Governance and Employment Risks. Prior to that, he was Senior Human Resources Manager for a local public-listed company in the Oil and Gas industry for 11 years managing several HR portfolios.

As an Adult Educator, Mr Henri Tan is competent in delivering training, both WSQ (Workforce Skills Qualification) for adult learners adopting the andragogical approach. He also design and deliver HR programmes ranging from employment compliance, performance management, learning and development as well as corporate communication and leadership management.

Concurrently, Mr Henri Tan provides people management solutions in the form of consultancy works with a few local companies. Some of the projects include employment compliance, training needs analysis, team effectiveness, leadership development and corporate communication.

Mr Henri Tan holds a Master of Arts from the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), a post Graduate Diploma in Human Capital Management from the Singapore Human Resource Institute (SHRI) and a Bachelor of Social Sciences from National University of Singapore (NUS). He had also obtained Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA) in 2010, Diploma in Adult and Continuing Education (DACE) and Certified Workplace Learning Specialist (CWLS) in 2016, awarded by the Workforce Development Agency (WDA).

Besides, Mr Henri Tan is certified in Harrison Innerview, a recruitment profiling tool. Mr Henri Tan has been certified as SHRM-Senior Certified Professional, and he has been trained by CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) to deliver its HR and L&D programmes in Singapore.

Nigel Phang

Associate Professor at Nanyang Business School, NTU

Nigel is the Associate Professor (Practice) of Nanyang Business School, Division of Strategy, Management and Organization. He teaches human resources and organizational behavior programmes.

Nigel's professional experience is centered on many years of working across multiple markets and industries in Asia. Prior to joining NTU, he was the Managing Director of Corporate Executive Board and General Manager of China with Development Dimensions International. He also held HR Director and other HR leadership positions in statutory board, financial institution and high-tech manufacturing firm. He was a former military field psychologist in the Singapore Ministry of Defence.

As a trained industrial psychologist, Nigel has strong interest in human resource transformation, selection and talent management. He has published articles in the field of talent management and presented at several HR forums in Asia. He is effectively bi-lingual in English and Mandarin. Nigel is an external examiner for the Singapore Polytechnic’s Diploma in HR & Psychology programme. He currently sits on the Assessment Committee of both the Society of Human Resource Management (USA) and the Institute for Human Resource Professionals (Singapore). He is the Vice President of the Enterprise Singapore Society.

Lee Tee Ling

Director at KeyCareer Consultancy, and Associate Consultant at SHRI

Tee Ling is a Senior HR Leader with 28 years of experience in human resource management and organization development (OD) at strategic and operational levels. He has held key HR leadership roles in both publicly listed and privately owned companies in different industries like Healthcare, Infocomm, Public transport, Logistics and Petrochemical, and Shipbuilding/ Marine engineering.

As a HR leader, he has formulated HR strategies and successfully translated them into HR programmes in leadership development, organization effectiveness, organization capability development, total rewards and employer branding.

Tee Ling has excellent experiences in dealing with major organisational changes: merger and acquisition, public listing, severe economic conditions (SARS/Financial Crisis) and organization restructuring (right sizing etc.). He has successfully worked directly with 3 unions and achieved harmoniously industrial relations, notably during the challenging SARS period. He has also negotiated and concluded Collective Agreements with the Unions.

Tee Ling has successfully provided consultancy & training services to both local organizations and MNCs in different industries.

He is also certified in personality profiling tools: DISC and Workplace Big5.

Linda Chan

Director, Capability & Organisation Development, Central Provident Fund Board

Linda is currently the Director of Capability and Organisation Development at the Central Provident Fund Board (CPF Board). She is concurrently the Vice Dean of the CPF Board Academy where she was instrumental in its set up; and the Vice Principal of the School of Leadership at the Academy, driving the development of leaders from junior supervisors to senior management. With more than two decades in the Public Service, Linda is passionate about developing people and teams and improving the health and effectiveness of organisations so that they are better able to contribute to the larger mission of serving Singapore. She has experience in learning and development, organisation development, leadership development, talent management, internal communications and change management. She also has prior stints in corporate planning, business excellence consultancy and public policy analysis and research.

Linda graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a Bachelor of Social Science (Hons) in Economics and holds a Master’s degree in Applied Sociology from NUS. She also holds a Graduate Diploma of the NTL OD Certification Programme, WSQ Advance Certificate in Training and Assessment and WSQ Specialist Diploma in Human Capital Management.

And it is a privilege for us to have her join the esteemed jury panel at the Jobscentral Learning Training and Development (T.E.D) Awards, 2019.

Jacqueline Choy, IHRP-SP

Human Resources Director at RHT Management Services Pte Ltd

Jacqueline is the HR Director at RHT Group of Companies. She is also an Associate Faculty with the Design & Specialised Businesses Cluster, Singapore Institute of Technology where she teaches HR Management.

She brings with her over 13 years of HR experiences from various industries. She started her career in an operational role, progressed to managing clients before focusing on the back of house in the events industry. She is responsible for the full spectrum of HR functions including business partnering to affiliate offices in Singapore and the region. In her current role, she works closely with the C-suite business leaders, legal counsel and department heads to align & implement HR policies & strategies with business goals.

She has a natural affinity to connecting and developing people and firmly believes in strong, pro-active employee engagement, mentorship and talent development. Jacqueline works with a calm, approachable & logical demeanor but can be firm and persistent in achieving goals.

Sylvia Koh

Chief People Officer (CPO) at CrimsonLogic

Sylvia oversees the full spectrum in planning and implementing people strategies for the CrimsonLogic Group globally. She brings more than 20 years of HR (Human Resources) experience and leads the Group HR to develop workforce strategies, drives Organizational & Talent Development, and succession planning across the various CrimsonLogic offices and business groups.

Prior to joining CrimsonLogic, Sylvia was working with Jardine Lloyd Thompson Limited in Hong Kong as the Regional Director of Human Resources for Asia for close to three years. Before Jardine Lloyd Thompson, she was the Business Services Director for Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance in China overseeing Human Resources, IT, Business Operations and the Global Business Network across Beijing, Shanghai and Nanjing.

Her other professional experience includes three years working with Convergys and seven years in HP-EDS, where she developed a strong familiarity with the IT sector.

Mentoring young working adults is something that Sylvia enjoys doing, not just as part of her HR role, but as a personal commitment to the development of future leaders in the community. She is an accredited coach for the Clifton Strengths Finder, Predictive Index (PI), and inhouse mentor to emerging leaders in previous companies she has worked for.

Sylvia holds a Bachelor of Science, Pharmacy, from the National University of Singapore. She is a Chartered Fellow with CIPD, UK, and also a certified Senior Professional with IHRP, Singapore.

Soann Chng

Head of Learning, SEED INSTITUTE

Soann is an experienced practitioner and facilitator focusing her work on learning and development, developing leaders, improving team dynamics and performance, drawing up and executing strategies and helping organisations through organizational and cultural transformation. She brings with her more than 15 years’ experience in designing and delivering change and learning programmes to all levels of people from top management to middle managers and employees. Her capability in organisation diagnosis enables her to provide solutions for her clients to address critical organisational development issues.

In all her work, she leverages on the use of Appreciative Inquiry, psychometric and change management tools and applies systems thinking and Learning Organisation framework to look at issues from both human and systemic points of view. Soann also plays a key role in driving leadership, learning and talent development efforts in Government Service and social enterprise organisations. She built up development frameworks and models from scratch and has led successful implementations with sustainable results.

From her outcome-focused approach and execution, organisations benefitted from tangible results such as higher staff performance, lower staff attrition, improvement in leadership evaluation and staff engagement scores. For her notable contributions, Soann emerged as one of the top 5 finalists for Best HR Manager in the national HRM Awards 2011.

Soann graduated with Bachelor of Arts (Honours, 2nd Upper) from National University of Singapore. Outside of work, she has been involved as a member in the HR Committee of a church organisation and contributes to the review, planning and implementation of key HR initiatives.

Her purpose is, in small ways that she is able, to help organisations and individuals be better, stronger and wiser to effect positive change.
