Programme Objectives
The Master of Public Health programme offered by Teesside University in partnership with MDIS is designed to take prospective graduates steps nearer to achieving their ambition. This programme is developed to take both current and future leaders keen on advancing their prospects in public health steps nearer to achieving their ambition of living an unlimited: from ordinary to milestone success.

Module Learning Outcomes

  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in writing a range of complex theoretical perspectives. This will be indicated through transition to mastery and acquired skills techniques
  • Demonstrate a coherent and critical understanding of the economic and political determinants of public health and health inequalities
  • Integrate abstract and conceptual perspectives for a critical understanding of the social, psychological, environmental and cultural determinants of public health and health inequalities
  • Demonstrate a critical understanding of how the determinants of public health issues influence the development of public health policy and practice, combining theoretical perspectives and conceptual frameworks in the diagnosis of complex public health debates
  • Distinguish arguments for understanding determinants of public health problems in relation to developing public health policy in relation to advanced professional skills, competencies and decision making
  • Understanding application and evaluating appropriateness of public health development in context with ethical, cultural and geo-demographic considerations
  • Demonstrate the independent learning skills required for continuing professional development

Entry Requirements


Entry Requirements
Applicants must be of age 21 and above and possess one of the following entrance requirements:
1) An undergraduate degree in a relevant health subject area with a minimum award of a lower second (2ii) class qualification or equivalent
OR
2) Mature candidates of min 30 years old with 8 years of working experience in a suitable health management, leadership or policy-related position is desirable but not essential
Note: All applications are subjected to University's approval. 
 
English Language Requirements
Applicants should have an IELTS score of 6.5 (with no element below 5.5)
OR
Letter from College/University clearly stating the Medium of Instruction of the highest qualification to be English
OR
MDIS Professional Certificate in English (PCIE)
OR
Pass MDIS English Placement Test
OR
Equivalent
