The Preparatory Course for the International English Language Testing System Programme (PCIELTS) offered by Kaplan Higher Education Academy (KHEA), is designed to develop non-native English Speakers' English language skills in preparation for the IELTS examination administered by the British Council.
The PCIELTS programme develops the skills that students will need to take the IELTS examination. In addition, students will learn to develop the skills necessary to tackle the various types, topics, and themes commonly presented in a IELTS examination. Either based on a previous IELTS exam or an internal IELTS baseline score, the PCIELTS programme will develop students' proficiency to increase their average band score to at least a 0.5 to 1.0.
An entry level of IELTS 5.0 is strongly recommended for this course.
The curriculum is taught over a period of 200 hours or 10 weeks. Classes are held on weekdays Monday to Friday, 5 times a week.
Students are assessed weekly based on the area of study for that week. Progress is recorded weekly to aid students in identifying areas in which they need to focus on. Students are also given at least three internal IELTS examinations: a Baseline assessment in the first week, a mid-term assessment, and a final assessment.
Students who complete the IELTS Prep Coure will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance (With a minimum 90% attendance). Students will be equipped with the skills necessary to handle the demands of the different types, topics, and themes which usually appear in an IELTS examination.
