Module Outline

Quantitative Methods

This course introduces the basic comcept of quantitative approaches to decision-making. It is designed to provide students with a sound conceptual understanding of the role that management science plays in the decision making process. It emphasises the application of a wide variety of quantitative techniques to the solution of business and economic problems. An additional objective is to familiarise students with the use of computers in statistical analysis.


Principles of Accounting

The module introduces students to the foundation and understanfing of the principles and concepts of Accounting. Students will be exposed to the application of these accounting concepts in the preparation of financial statements for use by individuals, business, non-profit organisations and government institutions. Students will also be developing expertise in using these accounting principles and concepts i ntheir analytical approach to financial problem-solving.


Principles of Economics

The module is an introduction to basic principles and concepts and how they apply to the business environment. It introduces students to the global economy and reviews both the national and the global market. It establishes the framework for future courses by providing students with an overview of fundamental micro and macroeconomic concepts.


Introduction to Logistics

This module focuses on international Logistics and Supply Chain Maangement, key of which involves the integration of information and strategic decision on transportation, inventory, material flow, and resources.


Principles of Management

The aim of this module is to provide students with an introduction to the principles and practices of management. Students will learn how to examine the nature of managerial work inclduing strategy, operations and project management, control, ethics, structures and culture, organisational power, groups, teams and individual performance, social responsibility and change management.


Principles of Marketing

This course seeks to equip students with an understanding of the role of Marketing. It outlines the fundamental principles, concepts and techniques. It provides students with the opportunity to examine marketing theories and approaches and the value of marketing management in achieving coroprate success in an increasingly competitive business environment.


Supply Chain Management

This module focuses in international Logistics and Supply Chain Management, key of which involves the integration of information and decisions on transportation, inventory, amterial flow, and resources.


Principles of Information Systems; OR

This module will introduce students to the concepts and methods of business information technology and its application to practical business situations. The goal is to help students to learn how to use and manage information technologies, conduct electronic commerce, improve decison-making, and gain competitive advantage in the marketplace. It therefore emphasizes on the role of Internet technologies as a technology platform for electronic business, commerce, and collaboration within and among corporations.


Business Communications

This course will involve the student in the diverse aspects of business communication theories and practices, and provide instruction in understanding basic principles and the importance of appropriate and professional business communication. The purpose is to enable students to communicate effectively in business settings, including effective presentation skills.



Entry Requirements


Minimum Age

17 years or above


Minimum Academic Entry Requirement

  • Two passess in GCE A Level Examinations; OR
  • Higher NITEC; OR
  • Completion of equivalent high school qualification (12 years); OR
  • Pass in appropriate Foundation / Certificate programme; OR
  • Other similar qualifications; OR
  • Mature Entry Route: Students aged 21 years old and above who have relevant work experience (2 years min) will be assessed on a case-by-case basis by the Academic Board. Students who enrol via the Mature Entry Route may be required to undergo interviews and show documented proof of experience and empolyment (eg. Company letter or letter of appointment)

Minimum English Language Entry Requirement
Applicants must have ANY of the following:
  • Grade C6 or better in the English Language at the Singapore GCE 'O' levels; OR
  • IELTS 5.5; OR
  • TOEFL 550; OR
  • Achieved a minimum advanced grade in the LSBF Preparatory Course in English (advanced level module)
All international students for whom English is not their first language must provide evidence of their linguistic ability by gaining a minimum level 5.5 or equivalent, prior to recieving an offer for the course.


Exemptions

Students, who have other qualifications, will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.


Award of Diploma & Assessment

To be awarded the LSBF Diploma in Logistics & Supply Chain Management, students must pass all 8 modules in the programme. To achieve a pass grade in each module, students must obtain an overall passing grade of at least 40%.

Students attend 3-hr lessons 3 nights a week and scheduled weekends for a period of 12 months.
