About Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB)
The Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB) was established on 1st April 2004 as a statutory board. SEAB, formerly the Examinations Division of the Ministry of Education (MOE), was formed to develop and conduct national examinations in Singapore and to provide other examination and assessment services, locally as well as overseas. SEAB collaborates with MOE on all national examinations. It also positions itself to become a regional centre for testing and assessment services, and to contribute to Singapore's development as an Education Hub.
Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level Exams grading system
The grading criteria are as below:

A1: Above 75
A2: 70-75
B3: 65-69
B4: 60-64
C5: 55-59
C6: 50-54
D7: 45-49
E8: 40-44
F9: Below 40
Examination Registration: March of every year
Date of examination:
Every year from June to November, there will be exams for different subjects. The detailed exam dates will be announced from March by the Singapore Examination and Assessment Board.
Exam registration fees:
Approximately SGD $650 (dependent on number of modules and time of registration)
Announcement of exams results: The middle of January the following year
Awarding of certificates:
After announcement of GCE O level results, students can use the results slips which are posted to them by the SEAB, and proceed to Singapore Ministry of Education to claim their certificates. In usual cases, students will laminate the result slips, in preparation for future studies or jobs applications.
About Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level Examination
The Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level (GCE O-Level) examination is a national level assessment jointly organised by Ministry of Education, Singapore and the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). Students who pass the examination will be awarded with the Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level certificate which is deemed as one of the entry requirements considered by many post-secondary institutions locally and internationally.
About Preparatory Course for GCE O-Level Examination
This is a 24 months course which aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in the Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level exams.

- Awarded by: Portman Institute of Technology
- Award Criteria: Attain overall attendance of 90% for the course and pass the Final Examination
- Assessment Methods: Monthly tests and 1 Final Examination at the end of the course
- Grading Descriptor: 50% as passing mark, with grades A to D
- Course Duration (Full-time): 24 Months (Monday to Friday – 6 hours per day)
- Mode of Delivery: Face-to-Face (Classroom Style)
- Intake: 01/03/2013 (Start Date) to 28/02/2014 (End Date)
- Minimum Entry Requirements:
- Students should have completed secondary 2 education or its equivalent
- At least 14 years old as at 1st January of the year of entry
- Passed Portman’s English Placement Test or equivalent
- Application Fee: S$500.00 (S$400.00 refundable if application is rejected)
- Course Fee: S$8,500.00*
*Students taking Combined Science subject will need to pay additional S$850.00 for laboratory fee.
Progression Pathway:
Upon completion, students will have acquired the essential skills and knowledge that will enable them to have a better grasp of the Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level syllabus content and prepare for their Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level examination.
Students who pass and obtain good results in their Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level examination will be able to pursue their education in post-secondary and tertiary institutions in Singapore or Overseas.

- Chinese Language (Cannot select Higher Chinese)
- Literature in Chinese (Cannot select Literature in Chinese for Combined Humanities)

- Principles of Accounts
- Combined Science (Physics/Chemistry)
- Combined Humanities (Social Studies and Geography or Literature in Chinese [Cannot select Literature in Chinese as single subject])
