Overview

The WSQ Advanced Certificate in MICE and Events is a Supervisory level qualification requiring students to complete 9 Competency Units (4 Core units and 5 Elective units) attain at least 26 credits.

Students of the WSQ Advanced Certificate in MICE and Events will gain knowledge and become competent in skills from a broad range of highly-developed supervisory skills specific to the MICE and event industry.

Programme Structure


The WSQ Advanced Certificate in MICE & Events course includes coverage of essential financial, loss prevention, staff training and staff supervision skills. Ths WSQ course also provides a selection of supplementary knowledge (selected to meet industry and/or individual need) drawn from MICE and events operations, sales and marketing and service excellence.

Core Units - Synopsis
There are 4 core units in the WSQ Advanced Certificate in MICE & Events course and the Unit Synopsis for each one is listed below.
TH-BF-301C-0 Monitor Income and Expenses (24 hrs)
On completion of this unit, participants will have the knowledge and application skills in monitoring income and expenses and be able to apply them to the workplace. These include:
  • Establishing control systems for income and expenses
  • Monitoring income, expenses and control systems
  • Administering petty cash systems
  • Reviewing financial records.
TH-RM-301C-0 Implement Loss Prevention (10 hrs)
On completion of this unit, participants will have the knowledge and skills in implementing loss prevention and be able to apply them to the workplace. These include:
  • Applying loss prevention policies and procedures
  • Monitoring loss prevention
  • Evaluating loss prevention guidelines.
TH-HRM-301C-0 Conduct Orientation and Training (32 hrs)
On completion of this unit, participants will have the knowledge and skills in conducting orientation and training and be able to apply them to the workplace. These include:
  • Conducting orientation
  • Planning training session
  • Conducting training
  • Evaluating training.
TH-HRM-302C-0 Supervise Staff (40 hrs)
On completion of this unit, participants will have the knowledge and skills in supervising staff and be able to apply them to the workplace. These include:
  • Rostering staff
  • Conducting briefings
  • Directing work of others
  • Conducting on-the-job supervision
  • Providing feedback to staff
  • Addressing staff performance concerns
  • Resolving employee conflicts
  • Monitoring timesheets and allowances.

Entry Requirements


Entry Requirement
  • WSQ ES Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) Level 6 or equivalent.
Eligibility
Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents and International Students are eligible to apply for the WSQ Advanced Certificate in MICE & Events course.



Duration & Intake


Programme Duration


Mode of Instruction
Instruction may include lectures, discussions, excursions, guest speakers, demonstrations, case-studies, practical exercises and activities.
Duration of Course
The duration of the WSQ Advanced Certificate in MICE & Events course is 270 hours:
  • WSQ course Core units    - 106 hrs
  • WSQ course Electives      - 146 hrs
  • WSQ course Assessment  -  18 hrs
WSQ course assessment hours for each unit are approximately 2 hours.
Mode of Delivery
The WSQ Advanced Certificate in MICE & Events is a part-time course delivered over 6 Months with two 4 hour evening classes per week.
Average teacher-student ratio
1 teacher to a maximum of 20 students.

Course Fees (excluding GST)
The WSQ Advanced Certificate in MICE & Events course has the following course fees:
 
Gross WSQ course fee $6,350.00
Less 90% SSG grant * $5,715.00
Nett WSQ course fee $   635.00

*The SSG Grant is only applicable to Singaporeans and PRs
