Course introduction

Introduction


Cyberspace has transformed the way we live and do business. We are increasingly relying on networked applications for assessing information and making critical business decisions. It is crucial for individuals, enterprises, and governments to be able to secure cyberspace from attacks, to effectively conduct their business.

This program provides an open path to cyber security for individuals from diverse backgrounds. You will develop a holistic understanding of security measures, encompassing network, system, and foundational theories. Gain insights into cyber systems and infrastructures, and their applications. Explore the human and legal aspects of cyber security. Learn the skills needed to address global skill shortages.



Curriculum Overview


Programme Structure



To complete the program, students must pass modules totaling 160 units.*

Consisting of 80 units of core modules and 80 units of non-specialisation modules. Each module is 10 units unless stated otherwise.

Entry Requirements


Applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree (AQF 7 level) or higher in a related discipline* may apply for up to 80 units of RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) towards the program;
or
Applicants who have completed the UON Graduate Certificate in Cyber Security are eligible for admission to the Master of Cyber Security and will receive 40 units of credits towards the program;
or
In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, applicants who are at least 30 years old, possess a minimum of 8 years of relevant* work experience, and hold professional qualifications may be considered.
* Related fields: cyber security, computer science, software engineering, computer systems, and information technology.

** Prospective students who would like their work experience to be considered, please provide certified copies of all relevant qualifications, a detailed CV, a statement of service or signed letters from employers confirming your role, duties and period of employment.
