Course introduction

Introduction


The Bachelor of Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety programme is a unique degree combining environmental management and emerging EOHS issues effectively. This course exposes you to the essentials in the management and practice of environmental health and safety management. Graduates can assume professional roles in the management and practice of environmental health and safety management by applying knowledge acquired in this programme.

The programme is designed for students and working adults who demonstrate that they have already achieved the equivalent of the first year of study through previous tertiary education.

This degree is fully accredited by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), the world’s biggest professional health and safety organisation. This programme is also approved by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) in its qualifying criteria as a requirement in applying to be a Workplace and Health Safety Officer (WSHO).

Professional Accreditation
This programme was developed in response to a demand for professionals in Singapore who can access both areas. The degree provides a sound theoretical base and skills necessary to enable graduate professionals to be:

  • Fully accredited by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), the world’s largest professional health and safety organisation.
  • Recognised by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) in its qualifying criteria as a requirement in applying to be a Workplace Safety & Health Officer (WSHO).
  • Complimentary student IOSH membership for all new incoming students commencing in May 2019 and beyond.

Entry Requirements


Local Qualifications

  • Diploma in Health, Science or Engineering from a local polytechnic or other recognized institutions; OR
  • Diploma in Industrial engineering from PSB Academy; OR
  • Other Diploma or equivalent qualification that would be assessed on a case-by-case basis
Minimum Age Requirement
  • 16 years old

The table below lists further module exemptions for specified additional qualifications. Additional qualifications must have been completed within 8 years prior to commencing in this programme in order to be considered.

English Language Requirements
  • Applicants should either possess a diploma from a recognised institution where English is the sole medium of instruction; OR
  • IELTS 6.0 (with no subbands below 6.0)
Note that all qualifications must be completed within eight years prior to commencement of the programme in order to be considered. Applicants with qualifications that are over eight years old, or with other relevant diploma qualifications may also apply, but will be assessed on a case-by-case basis by the university.
