Course introduction

Introduction

The established jewellery designer must understand a variety of design techniques using many different tools, both digital and traditional. They have experience with pre-production of their jewellery and, beyond their technical skill, design professionals must also be able to work with gemstones, identify design styles to use in their jewellery and express their creativity effectively and on-demand.

This advanced-level qualification builds upon the core competencies developed in the Fine Jewellery Design Diploma. Graduates completing this qualification have a wider range of drawing skills, experience with more industry-relevant software programmes, and gain a better understanding of the intricacies of gemstones and aesthetic appreciation. With great emphasis on experiential learning, participants build confidence to excel in the jewellery field, or step out as an independent designer.

This ‘Enhanced’ variation of the Fine Jewellery Design Advanced Diploma includes additional wholistic projects that utilise information from all course modules and their successful completion represents not only skills competence, but synthesis of learning and effective practical application of those skills. Enhanced project modules include periods of instructor supervision, peer assessment and formal project assessments.
