Course introduction

Introduction

Jewellery fabrication using precious metals requires commitment, dedication and experience that was traditionally only achieved through long periods of apprenticeship.

This comprehensive diploma incorporates new technologies as well as traditional techniques to accelerate skills development and build a deep understanding and appreciation for work with precious metals. Students develop the skills and confidence to produce unique and remarkable jewellery creations in Silver, Copper, Brass, Glass and other media.

With a broad array of creative and challenging metalwork projects, structured time to practice and refine critical skills, and exposure to trends, design and gem and jewellery knowledge, metal artists stand apart from their peers in the jewellery industry.

This ‘Enhanced’ variation of the Precious Metal Arts Diploma includes additional wholistic projects that utilise information from all course modules and their successful completion represents not only skills competence, but synthesis of learning and effective practical application of those skills. Enhanced project modules include periods of instructor supervision, peer assessment and formal project assessments.
