Programme Objectives
In addition to developing subject-based expertise and skills, consideration of practices adopted in this field globally will ensure the programme is relevant to an international community of students. 

The programme is intended to:

  • Provide students with a sound knowledge and understanding in the fundamental subjects that underpin Biomedical Science, including: human physiology and anatomy, biochemistry, cell biology, molecular genetics, immunology, microbiology and the biology of disease. 
  • To develop intellectual skills in relation to knowledge and understanding of current methods available for laboratory investigation, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. In addition to the roles of specialist disciplines, including: medical microbiology, clinical biochemistry, cellular pathology, haematology and transfusion science and clinical immunology.
  • To develop practical skills in the laboratory in addition to broader professional skills.
  • To prepare students for employment or future study by developing transferable skills, including: self-management and reflective practice, communication, IT, numeracy, data analysis and interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • To develop an appreciation of the role of scientific research in the advancement of Biomedical Science.

Entry Requirements


Applicants must be of age 17 and above, and meet at least ONE of the following requirements:

For Year 1 entry
International Foundation Diploma in Biomedical Sciences OR
GCE ‘A’ Level, in science stream subjects (Grades BBB, with B in Biology) OR
Life-Science related diplomas from local polytechnics (GPA 2.0 to 2.49) OR
Other PEI's foundation qualifications related to science with an entry requirement of 10 years of formal education

For Year 2 entry
Life-Sciences related diplomas from local polytechnics (GPA 2.5 & above)

English Language Requirements
IELTS 6.0 (with no element below 5.5) OR
MDIS Professional Certificate in English (PCIE) OR
Pearson Average 54, minimum component 51 OR
Pass MDIS English Placement Test (EPT) OR
Letter from College/University clearly stating the Medium of Instruction of the highest qualification to be English OR
Equivalent
