Academic Course Leader

Dr Douglas Yourston is a Senior Lecturer and the DBA Course Leader. As an academic, he teaches and specialized in Business Management, Hospitality & Tourism Management at undergraduate and post-graduate / doctoral levels, and has extensive past and current business experience in Europe and Asia.
 



Curriculum Overview


Programme Structure


Complete the 4 taught modules as follows:

1 DB8001: Reflective Professional Development
2 DB8002: Systematic Literature Review
3 DB8003: Methodological Fundamentals
4 DB8004: Research Methods and Analysis
After successfully completing the taught phase, the candidate will then undertake the main element of the programme, the doctoral research before defending the study through an oral defense in a viva voce.
 



Entry Requirements


What qualifications do you need?

A master’s degree or equivalent in a subject area relevant to the proposed research topic.
A minimum of two years’ post-qualification professional practice and ability to demonstrate professional competence of a high standard in the relevant research.

English Language requirements

EU and international students need IELTS 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 6.0 in writing and 5.5 in any other component) or equivalent.

Computer requirements

We set minimum basic computer requirements because your study resources are accessed via the Student Portal and it is vital that you can access this regularly. For this programme, you will also need Adobe Flash Player to view video material and a media player (such as VLC) to play video files.

Intakes:1st week of October each year

Application Deadline:

  • 2 weeks before intakes start to SAA-GE
  • 8 weeks before intakes start for international students who require student’s pass to SAA-GE
Note: Apart from applying to SAA-GE, students will also need to apply to University of Gloucestershire online at https://gradvision.glos.ac.uk/si/sits.urd/run/siw_ipp_lgn.login?process=siw_ipp_app&code1=RD0029-F01U-D&CODE2=0003. The application deadline to University of Gloucestershire is by mid-September each year. Students are recommended to apply earlier than the deadline.

Registration Deadline:

All students need to register and pay the relevant fees to SAA-GE at least 1 week before the intakes start.
Note: Apart from registering to SAA-GE, students will also need to complete their initial registration with University of Gloucestershire by mid-September each year with a 1,500-word research proposal.
