Area of Studies


In order to achieve the ACCA Qualification, students have to

  1. Complete a maximum of 13 exams (9 of which are eligible for exemption)
  2. Complete an Ethics and Professional Skills module
  3. 3 years’ relevant practical experience requirement
Fundamentals Level
This level has nine areas of study, divided into two modules:
1. The Applied Knowledge modules give you a broad introduction to financial and management accounting.
  • Upon completion of the exams Applied Knowledge of ACCA Qualification and Foundations in Professionalism ethics module, you can give ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business.
2. The Applied Skills modules cover the main technical subjects you need to know.
  • Upon completion of the exams Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills of ACCA Qualification and the Ethics and Professional Skill module, you can gain Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business.
1 Applied Knowledge Modules
Paper Synopsis
AB (formerly F1) Accountant in Business To develop knowledge and understanding of the business environment and the influence this has on how organisations and accountants operate, and of the role of the accountant and other key business functions in contributing to an efficient, effective and ethical organisation, and to build knowledge and understanding of the basic principles of effective management.
MA (formerly F2) Management Accounting To develop knowledge and understanding of how to prepare and process basic cost and quantitative information to support management in planning and decision-making in a variety of business contexts.
FA (formerly F3) Financial Accounting To develop knowledge and understanding of the underlying principles, concepts and regulations relating to financial accounting and technical proficiency in the use of double-entry accounting techniques, including the preparation of basic financial statements and include preparation of basic consolidated financial statements and interpretation of financial statements.
2 Applied Skills Modules
LW* (formerly F4) Corporate and Business Law  To develop knowledge and skills in the understanding of the general legal framework, and of specific legal areas relating to business, recognising the need to seek further specialist legal advice where necessary.
PM (formerly F5) Performance Management  To develop knowledge and skills in the application of management accounting techniques to quantitative and qualitative information for planning, decision-making, performance evaluation and control.
TX* (formerly F6) Taxation To develop knowledge and skills relating to the tax system as applicable to individuals, single companies, and groups of companies.
FR (formerly F7) Financial Reporting To develop knowledge and skills in understanding and applying accounting standards and the theoretical framework in the preparation of financial statements of entities, including groups, and how to analyse and interpret those financial statements.
AA (formerly F8) Audit and Assurance To develop knowledge and skills in the process of carrying out the assurance engagement and its application in the context of the professional regulatory framework.
FM (formerly F9) Financial Management To develop knowledge and skills expected of a financial manager – relating to issues affecting investment, financing, and dividend policy decisions.
Strategic Professional Level
This level builds on your knowledge even further – giving you the advanced skills, techniques and ethical approaches you need to succeed as a senior finance professional.
3 Essentials Module Revised wef from Sept 2018 (Take all 2 papers)
SBL  Strategic Business Leader (Formerly P1 & P3) You’ll demonstrate the right blend of technical, ethical and professional skills in the evaluation, synthesis and presentations of responses through the context of an innovative case study.
SBR Strategic Business Reporting (Formerly P2) We’ve taken the current qualification view of reporting to new levels. Students will get the skills needed to confidently speak the language of business and explain reports to a wide variety of stakeholders.
4 Options Modules (Choose any 2 from 4)
AFM (formerly P4) Advanced Financial Management To develop knowledge and skills in the understanding of the general legal framework, and of specific legal areas relating to business, recognising the need to seek further specialist legal advice where necessary.
APM (formerly P5) Advanced Performance Management To develop knowledge and skills in the application of management accounting techniques to quantitative and qualitative information for planning, decision-making, performance evaluation and control.
ATX* (formerly P6) Advanced Taxation To develop knowledge and skills relating to the tax system as applicable to individuals, single companies, and groups of companies.
AAA* (formerly P7) Advanced Audit and Assurance To develop knowledge and skills in understanding and applying accounting standards and the theoretical framework in the preparation of financial statements of entities, including groups, and how to analyse and interpret those financial statements.

* Refers to papers where local variant papers are available.
SAA-GE offers the SGP variant for LW*, TX* and ATX*.
SAA-GE offers the International variant for SBR* and AAA*

Entry Requirements


18 years old and above with:

  • Minimum of 2 ‘A’ levels and 3 ‘O’ levels passes with credits in English and Mathematics or
  • Diploma and Degree from a recognized institution in any subject or
  • LCCI – 3 Higher level passes and 2 intermediate level passes (5 separate subjects including English and Mathematics)
  • Certified Accounting Technician(CAT) qualification
  • FIA Diploma in Accounting and Business

4. International Students are required to enrol in at least 3 papers per intake.
