Course introduction

Introduction

TSMC is an institution that specialises in songwriting education for aspiring singer-songwriters and music producers. It is an initiative by Funkie Monkies, together with mm2 Asia Ltd. as a strategic partner, to bridge the music education and industry together. Throughout this programme, you will develop skills in creating melody, harmony, and arranging as well as creative approaches to musical composition, lyric writing, and an individual writing style. Curriculums are specially designed to focus on both songwriting and production, culminating in a portfolio of your original songs.

Interpersonal and situational skills will develop through the many collaborative situations that exist in the professional environment, such as co-writing songs both as a composer and as a lyricist, working with vocalists and instrumentalists in the production of demo recordings, and working with engineers, artists, and producers in the studio environment.

Most importantly, a professional music veteran will be your designated mentor to guide you and develop your personal style and industrial readiness upon graduation. As a graduate of the songwriting & music production programme, you will have sufficient skills and knowledge to work in the music industry as a songwriter, lyricist, arranger, demo & professional production worker.

Some of the modules you would learn will include, Melody Writing, Music Arrangement for Popular Music, Music Production Analysis and Live Sound Essentials. You would also be involved in a Final Year Project as a requirement for graduation.

At Least 16 Years old, and;
Pass Academy’s Interview conducted by Academics, and;
Completed IP Year 4 or equivalent, and;
English Proficiency Requirements:
(International English Language testing System (IELTS) Score of 5.0 or equivalent)
