SKILLS FOR COMPUTING – L4SC
Skills for Computing – provides the essential skills for a computing student (including presentation, report-writing and data handling skills). Not only will this unit prepare for successful outcomes in studies, but it will also provide skills that can be applied in the workplace.
COMPUTER NETWORKS – L4CN
Computer Networks – networking and communication skills are vitally important in today’s connected world. In this unit students will develop a good understanding of basic theory, and also develop useful practical skills.
COMPUTER SYSTEMS – L4CSYS
Computer Systems – addresses the development of practical skills in the configuration, maintenance, fault-finding and trouble- shooting of modern computer systems and develops knowledge of computer architecture.
DESIGNING AND DEVELOPING A WEBSITE – L4DDW
Designing and Developing a Website – develops practical skills in website design by providing a detailed understanding of mark-up languages, style sheets, design techniques and testing.
DATABASES – L4DBAS
Databases – provides thorough training in practical techniques of the design and development of database systems together with developing a sound understanding of the underpinning theory.
DESIGNING AND DEVELOPING OBJECT-ORIENTED COMPUTER PROGRAMS – L4DDOOCP
Designing and Developing Object-Oriented Computer Programs – provides a thorough introduction to computer programming using Java.
SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT TECHNIQUES – L4SDT
Software Development Techniques – addresses the wider issues of software development together with a language-independent survey of useful data structures and algorithms.
OFFICE SOLUTIONS DEVELOPMENT – L4OSD
Office Solutions Development – develops practical skills in the automation of common office applications to support a variety of tasks.
On successful completion of the NCC Education Level 4 Diploma in Computing (RQF), the qualification allows candidates entry to the NCC Education Level 5 Diploma in Computing (RQF) (which is equivalent to year 2 of a typical UK honours degree), the second year of many UK university programmes or enables candidates to pursue a career in the Computing industry.
Upon successful completion of all modules, students will be eligible for the NCC Education Level 4 Diploma in Computing (RQF) awarded by NCC Education.
Entry Requirement (Academic Qualification):
* NCC Education Level 3 International Foundation Diploma for Higher Education Studies (RQF); OR
* NCC Education Level 3 Diploma in Business (RQF); OR
* 1 GCE ‘A’ Level pass
Entry Requirement (English Proficiency) :
IELTS min score of 5.5 or above; OR GCE 'O' Level English C6
Matured Entry: Able to demonstrate over 2 years of relevant work experience; AND Have GCE 'O' Level / IGCSE English and Maths or equivalent.
Other Qualification: An appropriate school leaver’s certificate; OR An international qualification which is deemed to be of a similar level to the NCC Education Level 3 International Foundation Diploma for Higher Education Studies or NCC Education Level 3 Diploma in Business (RQF) qualification. This shall be agreed with NCC Education in advance.

Combination of lectures, tutorials and workshops in a classroom environment at Informatics Academy campus. Lessons are typically in blocks of 3-4 hour sessions.
