Course introduction

Recognised qualification to register as a WSH Officer under the WSH Act Learn to recommend Workplace Safety and Health control measures as well as manage risks relating to the manufacturing industry Learn how to develop a Workplace Safety and Health management system relevant to the manufacturing industry The WSQ Specialist Diploma in Occupational Hygiene is a competency-based training programme that aims to equip individuals with the competencies of an Occupational Hygiene (OH) officer.



Course Pre-Requisites


Pre-requisites
The minimum criteria for admission for the WSQ Specialist Diploma in Occupational Hygiene are:
(i) ES WPLN Level 6, OR Grade C6 in GCE 'O' Level for English and Mathematics; AND
(ii) Grade C6 in GCE 'O' Level Science (Chemistry and Physics)
^^ Trainees with Specialist Diploma in WSH can be exempted from the Maths and Physics GCE 'O' Level requirements for the Occupational Hygiene Courses
Preference will be given to candidates who have at least 2 years of working experience in any industry. 
Credit Exemption
Selected units under the OH Professionals WSQ framework have been closely referenced to existing Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and National Environmental Agency (NEA) courses.
Individuals who have undertaken the MOM/NEA accredited courses will need to submit documentary evidence to seek exemption for corresponding units in the OH Professionals WSQ framework.

Funding Information
Skills Development Fund (SDF) and SkillsFuture Funding:

  • Participants must attend at least 75% of the course, complete the exam with a pass or competent result.
  • Online applications are not applicable for companies applying funding with Absentee Payroll.
  • Workforce Training Support (WTS) funding only applies to trainee who is 35 years old and above with a monthly income of $1,900 and below.
For Company Registration:
  • Customers who are applying funding for trainee(s), please submit Training Grant applications in SkillsConnect website before registration.
  • Training Grant number is to be submitted together with the registrations.
  •  Payment for the course must be using company cheque or via GIRO.

  • Measure Exposure and Assess the Risks due to Hazardous Substances

  • Evaluate Ergonomics – Related Hazards
  • Compose Technical Report
Elective Modules - Group 1 (complete 2 Modules)
  • Assess and Control Thermal Stressors
  • Assess Confined Space for Safe Entry and Work
Elective Modules - Group 2 (complete 1 Module)
  • Solve Problem and Make Decision at Managerial  Level
Individuals may seek credit exemptions for the following elective modules by submitting documentary evidence:

  • Manage Radioactive Materials and Irradiating Apparatus
  • Control Hazards in Handling Laser Devices 
  • Manage Asbestos and Other Fibres Risks (Not offered in NTUC LearningHub)
  • Manage Skin Exposure Risks (Not offered in NTUC LearningHub)
  • Manage Indoor Air Quality (Not offered in NTUC LearningHub)
  • Evaluate and Control Biological Hazards
(Group 2)
Lead Workplace Communication and Engagement

Mode of Assessment
Individuals will be assessed for each unit through various methodologies such as written questioning, written assignment, case studies, practicals and oral questioning etc.
Certification Obtained and Conferred by
A Statement of Attainment (SOA) will be awarded upon completion of the course.
