Course introduction

Leadership is a function of our personal capabilities - courage, taking responsibility, being proactive, inspiring and involving others. Leaders can be found in many guises and different walks of life. Project managers who help their "clients" (be they internal or external) define the vision and business case of a project go out of their way to deliver the best possible benefits by inspiring and motivating the team to implement that vision. For project managers to become truly effective leaders, they must stop working on the urgent and start focusing on what is really important! This course will give participants the confidence and ability in respect to Leading and Managing Project Teams. Participants gain a practical understanding on how to assess and sustain effective team performance throughout the lifecycle of a project and how to identify and resolve key resource issues.

Trainer Profile

Dr Luuk van Breda

Dr Luuk van Breda has more than 35 years' experience running projects in the fields of Business Management, Project Development and Implementation. His work has taken him across all five continents working on projects ranging in size from USD 5 million to USD 350 million.

In the Asian region, Dr Luuk van Breda has worked on projects for the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and World Bank while stationed in Indonesia (5 years), Philippines (3 years), Thailand (3 years) and Singapore (10 years).

Dr Luuk van Breda has also worked on projects in the Middle East, Africa and South America. He has a deep understanding of regional markets and his professional experience with organisations of all sizes, from SMEs to large domestic and international corporates in both the private and public sector.

Dr van Breda has spent the last 4 years creating, developing and delivering a sophisticated and detailed training methodology built around the 'Four Pillars' of Communication, Negotiation Presentation and Listening Skills, which are aimed specifically at enhance performances of individuals, teams and organisations.

Dr van Breda is an accomplished public speaker and is highly experienced in running and organising discussion seminars on topics related to doing business in a rapidly changing world. Prior to moving into the financial world with the Asian Development Bank, Dr van Breda gained his formal academic qualifications in The Netherlands. Prior to this, Dr van Breda was a professional sports player and managed football, baseball and field hockey teams.
