Daily Chinese - HSK Programme

Course introduction

Introduction


Daily Chinese – HSK programme is based on the HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) syllabus and suitable for anyone who is interested in Chinese language and culture. It consists of Basic, Intermediate and Advanced levels, which covers a wide range of daily topics; such as talking about personal information, living, working, and social interaction etc. The theme-based lessons will help learners develop their skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. At each level, they will learn an average of 400 words and 50 language points.

Trainers
Our trainers are Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA) and/or National Institute of Education (NIE) certified professionals who meet CI-NTU’s teaching standards. They all possess practical teachings experience with local universities, government schools or private institutions, and are proficient in both Chinese and English.

Entry Requirements


Placement Test

  • Only fresh learners with no prior knowledge of Chinese may enrol directly in Daily Chinese – HSK (Basic Level 1).
  • Applicants with prior knowledge of Chinese are required to take a free placement test to match their Chinese proficiency to the appropriate level.
  • Applicants who have previously enrolled and completed the Daily Chinese – HSK programme may use their test results for course enrolment to the next level.

Duration & Intake


Programme Duration


There are four intakes in a year: January, April, July and October. Each intake will have a weekday and weekend option. Each level consists of 10 lessons, once/week, 3 hours each.

Fee Support

a) National Silver Academy (NSA)*

  • Enjoy 50% subsidy for course fee.
  • Applicable to Singapore Citizens, aged 50 years and above.

*Applicant is not eligible for any other discount schemes.

b) Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP)
  • NTUC members enjoy 50% unfunded course fee support, capped at $250 annually.*
  • Applicable for selected courses only.
  • Applicant must be a NTUC member before course commencement, throughout the duration of the course, and at the point of claim.
  • The course must commence within the subsidy supported period.
  • Unfunded course fee must be $20 and above.
  • Applicants must be self-sponsored.
  • Achieved a minimum attendance rate of 75%.
  • Sat for post-course test by the stipulated deadline.
  • UTAP application must be submitted within 6 months after course completion.

*Unfunded course fee refers to the balance course fee payable after applicable government subsidy. This excludes GST, registration fees, miscellaneous fees etc.

c) SkillsFuture Credit (SFC)
  • Receive an opening credit of $500 that will not expire and periodic top-ups from the Government to offset the course fee of approved skills-related courses.
  • Applicable to Singapore Citizens, aged 25 years and above.
  • Applicants must be self-sponsored.

d) Post-Secondary Education Account (PSEA) Fund
  • Applicants may utilise funds in their own and/or their sibling(s)’ PSEA for the payment of tuition fee and selected course fees, on top of the above-mentioned government course subsidies.
  • Applicable to Singapore Citizens or applicants with siblings who have PSEA funds, aged 30 years and below.
  • Applicants must be self-sponsored.
