Introduction


Objective

CTH Level 4 aims to provide understanding of the operational aspects of the international hotel industry and knowledge of the underlying principles involved by combining practical career-based elements with a number of essential underpinning management disciplines.

This course is an ideal preparation for immediate employment in the sector. Alternatively students may use it as a pathway to advanced study, typically progressing on to the CTH Level 5 Diploma.

Since the Level 4 Diploma is designed to be broadly equivalent to that of the first year of a bachelor’s degree, students may also use the qualification to apply for credit entry to a number of bachelor degree programmes at selected universities worldwide.

FBO        Food and beverage operations
FBS        Food and beverage supervision
EFTH      Essentials of finance in tourism and hospitality
CSMTH   Customer service management in tourism and hospitality
GTH        Global tourism and hospitality

Mode of Delivery

The programme is delivered through classroom lectures, group and individual assignments, case studies, in-class exercises and industry visits where appropriate.

Duration

Full – time
  • 6 months (Theory)
  • Monday to Friday, 3 hours per session
Part– time
  • 9 months (Theory)
  • 3 days a week, 3 hours per session
  • 6 months (Work experience programme)
  • 44 hours per week
WEP for international students is not guaranteed as a training work permit is required to undertake the on the job training. The application for training work permit is subject to approval by the Ministry of Manpower (for International Students only).
 
Awarding Body

The Level 4 Diploma in Hospitality Management is awarded by the Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality (CTH).
 
Entry Requirements

To be eligible for admission to CTH Level 4 Diploma in Hospitality Management, you must
  • be at least 16 years old at the time of application
meet the minimum academic qualification and English standard listed in table below:


If your academic qualification or English standard is not listed in the table above, your application will be assessed by the Academic Manager based on its equivalence to Level 3 QCF and English proficiency level of IELTS 5.5.
  • Mature candidates of at least 21 years of age with minimum of 3 years work experience may also apply.
 
Progression Opportunities

Diploma in Hospitality Management


After you have successfully completed the CTH Level 4 Diploma, you can progress onto the CTH Level 5 Diploma.

University Pathways

Students who successfully complete the CTH Level 4 Diploma are also eligible to gain progression to a number of universities worldwide.
