Introduction


This programme is designed for students who want to embark on an in-depth study of Business and Management to develop analytical and evaluative skills. Our programme provides you with the opportunity to develop your knowledge of key business functions and their relationship with the wider strategic and international environment. You will also expand your knowledge and understanding of the current changes in the business environment through the study of leadership, organisational change and transformation, innovation and stakeholder management.

By the end of this masters level programme you will be able to critically examine the use of the key functional areas of marketing, human resources, finance, accounting and operations management to analyse strategic perspectives regionally, nationally and internationally at organisation and sector levels in support of wider organisational activity. The programme will provide knowledge to evaluate the relationship between the organisation and its environment and the importance and nature of organisational change and transformation. Students will be able to critically analyse contemporary issues, challenges and problems relating to business and management that impact on business and management at functional, strategic and sector levels. Students will learn how to evaluate the role and contribution of integrative strategic and leadership approaches. Importantly, the programme synthesise relevant critical thinking through academic research and applications of knowledge in real-world environment.

Students will be equipped with independent personal development skills and background knowledge needed for a wide variety of business areas. This programme aims to supply future managers and professionals to various business and management sectors as well as to provide key knowledge and skills that are vital to modern organisations. This programme prepares students for careers in accountancy and finance, personnel and human resource management, marketing and market research, business strategy, small business management and start-up, economics, e-business and information management.

The course provides an interdisciplinary approach to Global Citizenship and will help students form their own understandings of complex and contested notions in the business environment. Students will develop informed perspectives on their own and collective responsibilities as global citizens within their local, national and international communities.

The course will provide students with the opportunity to develop Digital Literacy skills through the use of applications software used by contemporary organisations. Additionally, students will gain an understanding of managerial systems and their impact upon organisations. Digital literacy skills are also developed through the engagement with the ‘E’ aspects of the learning process through the process of engagement with ‘E’ materials, tasks, Personal Development Planning and collaborative learning.

Career Opportunities
The MBA gives a sound grounding for management careers at executive level within organisations of all sizes around the world. The practical application within business simulations and the real world consultancy project ensure that participants gain the ability to apply learning to real-world business scenarios, as well as understanding the underpinning theoretical frameworks. Participants are given opportunities to develop their own personal skills, as well as business skills, culminating in individual career development plans.

Course Delivery
This programme is available on both full and part time bases, and will take 15 months to complete. Students will attend 3 semesters of academic study, and are expected to complete between 45 credits to 60 credits each semester. Full-time students will attend classes 5 days a week on weekdays, while part-time students will attend classes 2 times a week on weekends.

Course Availability
Intakes for the MBA programme are available 3 times a year. All applications should be submitted to ERCI no later than 1 month before the commencement date.

Assessment Framework
The MBA classes rely on a system of continuous assessment on a module-by-module basis through the use of short essays, learning journals, annotated bibliographies, book reviews, quizzes, student presentations, research proposals and general class discussions. The coursework load for each module is set out in individual module descriptors given to students at the beginning of each semester.

Accreditation
On successful completion of the MBA you will meet the requirements of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership.

Graduation Requirements
Students must meet the attendance requirements (90% for International Students, 75% for Local Students), and must successfully complete, or be credited with, at least 60 credits within the stipulated period of study as set by the University.

The total course fees are S$ 16,800, and are inclusive of examination fees & course materials, but not the cost of textbooks. Course fees are subject to the prevailing GST rates, and are payable to "ERC Institute Pte Ltd" in Singapore DOLLARS.
