The Murdoch Bachelor of Commerce is a fully accredited programme that comprises of Year 1 (Part I) and Year 2 & 3 (Part ‘Management’ refers to the process of employing resources to achieve customer needs. Traditionally, the study of management was concerned with the four functions of planning, organising, directing and controlling. Although these functions are vital for the well-being of organisations, contemporary workplaces are highly dynamic and they bring a new set of challenges to management. The study of management explores a wide range of relevant issues, theories and perspectives to better prepare people to understand the complexities and responsibilities of managerial life in the twenty-first century.

Structure & Content

Core units:

  • BUS223 Organisational Theory and Behaviour
  • BUS228 Workplace Law
  • BUS240 Organisational Development and Human Resources Management
  • BUS317 Strategic Management
  • BUS378 Knowledge and Organisational Learning
  • BUS323 International Management

Plus six (6) other elective units (Students may select any unit from other majors, subject to fulfilling the necessary pre-requisites).

Entry Requirements
  • SMa Diploma in Business Administration
  • Polytechnic Diploma or equivalent
  • Applicants holding other commercial or non business diploma will be considered on a case-by-case basis*
  • Senior executives with substantial managerial or working experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis*
  • All applicants will be required to provide satisfactory evidence of their competency in English subjected to the University's approval

* Applicants may be admitted to the BCom programme but are required to undertake additional courses in order to achieve full advanced standing. The final decision rests with Murdoch University.

Accreditation

The Murdoch University Bachelor degree may, subject to choice of major, extended major, or specialisation, allow graduates to satisfy the academic requirements for membership as follows:
