Introduction


Background:
The Foundation Programme provides a pathway into the Singapore Qualification Programme (Singapore QP) for candidates who do not have an Accredited Accounting Degree*. The Foundation Programme of the Academic Base will develop in graduates the base technical knowledge and skills as well as capacities for inquiry, abstract logical thinking, critical analysis, appropriate communication, personal and interpersonal skills required by the accounting profession.

Upon successful completion of the SAA FP, the graduates will be awarded an SAA FP Qualification certificate and be eligible to apply for the Singapore QP Professional Programme.

*Accredited accountancy degrees are degrees that are approved and listed by the Singapore Accountancy Commission (SAC) as appropriate for direct entry into the Singapore QP Professional Programme.

Recognised qualification of a high standard
The SAA FP is a qualification of a high standard which will equip candidates with the knowledge, skills and professional values that are required of a professional accountant in business. Upon completion of SAA FP, graduates will be eligible for the Singapore QP Professional Programme.

SAA FP is a robust and quality programme with premium branding and well-rounded syllabuses. Learning support and networking opportunities are provided to suit the study and working needs of candidates.

High flexibility
Being a self-study programme, candidates can complete the modules under SAA FP in any sequence and can opt to take exams only, without attending compulsory courses. There is no limitation on the number of modules to be attempted during each semester.

All modules are offered as written examinations. There are 4 intakes in a calendar year, with the first examination in November.

Funding and Subsidies
Funding and subsidies are available to Accredited Training Organisations or employers for providing study support to their employees who are SAA FP candidates.

Productivity and Innovation Credit
Employers who pay the examination fees or tuition fees of their staff for the SAA FP will be able to claim for the Productivity and Innovation Credit (PIC) under the qualifying activity of “Training of Employees”. Employers can choose between either claiming an enhanced tax deduction OR claiming a cash payout.

Employers can enjoy 400% tax deductions/allowances and/or 60% cash payout for investment in innovation and productivity improvements under the PIC scheme.

Place-and-Train Accounts and Audit Professionals
Hiring Employers/ Accredited Training Organisations keen on diversifying their talent pool by hiring non-accounting professionals for professional accounting roles may apply for training support of up to SGD 8,500 per eligible employee to undergo the Singapore QP Foundation Programme.
