Course introduction

Introduction


The sport industry is a diverse and fast-growing field that incorporates multiple sectors — professional sport teams, public and private sport organizations, sport media and entertainment agencies, and sport & leisure facilities and events operations.

The Diploma in Sport Management (DSM) is designed for those who wish to prepare themselves to work in the sport industry by providing a broad understanding of the field. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to take on an exciting career within the sport industry.

The programme objectives are :

  • To provide students with strong foundational knowledge on subjects related to sport management;
  • To equip students with practical, industry-relevant skills for use in the sport management industry;
  • To prepare graduates for the award of the qualification of the Diploma in Sport Management;
  • To prepare graduates of the diploma for higher level studies (i.e., Advanced Diploma in Sport Management).



Programme Duration
Full-time:  8 months               Part-time: 12 months

Programme Intake
Full Time: 15th of May 2017 and 4th of September 2017

Part-time: July 2017

Assessment / Examinations
Each module is assessed via a mix of coursework (e.g., assignments, group projects, oral presentations, and practical demonstrations) and examinations (e.g., closed book written exams).

Entry Requirements
Academic Level

  • 3 GCE ‘O’ levels passes or equivalent; or
  • 5 GCE ‘N’ levels passes or equivalent
  • Institute of Technical Education (ITE) Higher NITEC in sport or related courses
Language Proficiency
  • GCE ‘O’ level English (grade 1 to 7) or its equivalent

Graduation Criteria
Students must complete and successfully pass all eight (8) modules to be awarded the Diploma.

Attendance Criteria
All students need to attend at least 75% (and at least 90% for student pass holders) of classes and to be eligible for a Certificate of Attendance.
