Course introduction

This environmental awareness programme aims to give participants a holistic experience both on land and on water! It first consists of a presentation of water and environmental issues such as scarcity and pollution, thereafter participants will have a hands-on experience to observe, monitor and pick up litter from the shores and waters of the Marina Reservoir!



Course Outline


Duration: 3 hours

Equipment / Items needed: Clean-up materials, boats and all related accessories will be provided. Participants are to bring their own personal water bottles, wear comfortable outdoor attire with covered shoes and a cap.

Starting from the Kallang Basin, participants will make their way up the Singapore River on a Powered Boat. First heading towards, the Singapore Flyer, under the Helix Bridge and up the Singapore River all the way towards Jiak Kim Street. 
The on-board guide on every boat will point out sights along the Singapore River and highlight hotspots where trash accumulates. Participants will be able to engage in litter picking activities from the boat, scooping up trash using nets.

Along the way, participants will also see measures put in place by the Public Utilities Board in an attempt to mitigate the impact of litter in our waterways.
 

$200 fixed administration cost + $250 per group of 5 (on boat)
