Course introduction

The Kayak River Clean-Up Programme aims to promote the human-nature relationship through spending time in the outdoors by retrieving litter from the river while paddling.

Target Audience

Student groups with a focus on teambuilding and environmental awareness education.
Corporate groups looking for a CSR event that can incorporate teambuilding elements.

Course Outline

The session will begin with sharing on the importance of environmental protection and impact of litter followed by introduction on Kayaking and the cleaning equipment / methods.

The group will learn the basics of paddling and explore the waterways of the Marina Reservoir to perform clean-up at the litter hot spots, learn how the litter travels, weigh the litter retrieved when back at shore, review the collection and discuss what we may do collectively for a healthier planet.

Duration: 3 hours

Equipment / Items needed: Kayaking and cleaning equipment will be provided. Participants to prepare extra attire including a change of footwear, sun protection e.g. cap, shades, sunblock and bring water bottle. Footwear to be in sandals or shoes.
