Basic application theories and principles of design for beginners
Understanding proper use of images and its power
Working knowledge of design software to produce basic marketing collaterals
Thinking how to think. The teachings of multi-dimensional design thinking and design idea generation

Trainer Profile


Mark Phooi

Mark is one of Singapore's most accomplished design entrepreneurs who has worked his way up from a one-man operation in 1989, to CEO of First Media (FM) Group. With a strong passion in design, he continued to pursue Master's degree in design from University of New South Wales, Australia to become a trained designer. Subsequently, he undertook management courses to fulfill his dream of being a designpreneur.
Being one of Singapore's largest locally owned communications group with over 15 design studios spread across seven Asian markets -The FM Group has a proven track record and was awarded with the Enterprise 50 Start-Up Award in 2005.
In 2006, Mark was also awarded with Singapore's most recognised business accolade as one of the Top Entrepreneurs of the Year - co-organised by the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (ASME) and the Rotary Club of Singapore. Throughout his two decades of consulting experience, he has earned and accumulated over 30 different design awards.
Mark has since shifted his professional goal from design consultancy and devotes his energy and time into growing of First Media Design School (www.firstmedia.edu.sg). Under Mark's leadership, FMDS advocates the teaching of design management and designpreneurship using Mark's 'tried and tested' teaching system. Over the past decades, he has personally groomed more than 50 designpreneurs.
FMDS is headquartered in Singapore, and has operations in Mumbai, Port Louise, Jakarta and Surabaya. In March 2013, Mark published his biography titled 'Think like a Sage, Work like a Fool, Act like a Criminal.
